Interventions are approaches to help chemically dependent individuals recognize the consequences of their use while becoming willing to accept treatment and enter successful recovery. Interventions require committed family members, friends and colleagues to address the history, behaviors and feelings associated with the chemically dependent person’s use.
Information is presented in a factual and respectful manner allowing a chemically dependent person to believe they can be benefit by seeking help and being successful in doing so. Family, friends, and colleagues also benefit by gaining an understanding of the disease progression and resources available for help.
Our interventionist will welcome your call, and explain types of interventions, provide you with literature related to interventionists, and with resources in the community. The original and most successful model of intervention is the Johnson Model, which involves meeting with family, friends and colleagues and our interventionist. These meetings are scheduled at our Gig Harbor location. Interventions allow the chemically dependent person to accept help without further harm to themselves or others through their chemical use.
If you think you or a loved one may need intervention services or want more information, please call our outpatient site, Gig Harbor Counseling at: 253-851-2552 and ask to speak to Karen Augustine, CDP, Certified Intervention Specialist, or call Olalla Guest Lodge at 253-857-6201.
