Inpatient
Program
History
Since 1969, we have successfully treated all aspects of this disease. At
Olalla, patients are respected, their confidentiality is observed, and
understanding extended to them during this difficult time. Olalla Guest
Lodge is one of Washington State’s oldest private, nonprofit,
state-approved chemical dependency treatment facilities.
Description
Our intensive inpatient program is designed to treat the chemically
dependent person’s and their families. Our program is based on education
about addiction, social skills training, wellness-oriented life-style
education, counseling, group therapy, and a thorough introduction to
Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. We are especially equipped
to help those individuals who: Are in need of concentrated time and
attention in an inpatient program environment.
Have been unable to maintain abstinence on an outpatient basis.
Have a limited stable support base of family or significant others.
Objectives
Patients entering our program can expect the following objectives be
met:
To maintain abstinence from all mood altering substances.
Become educated about addiction in all its facets—mind, body and
spirit.
Develop skills to address and resolve personal and family problems.
To increase the support network of the patient and family through
participation in Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon and
other community groups.
Learn to spot the danger signs of relapse and develop effective
relapse prevention tools.
Olalla also offers
Assistance to patients in the design and implementation of a
continuing care program designed to maintain lifetime abstinence;
relapse prevention begins the day a patient enters treatment!
Opportunities for patients to enjoy social and recreational
activities with other recovering persons as well as on-going alumni
support.
We utilize a special process to achieve these objectives. This
process begins at admission when the patient is assigned to a qualified
chemical dependency counselor. This counselor will provide the majority
of the patient’s individual and group counseling services throughout the
program. At this time, patients also join a group with which they will
remain for the duration of treatment.
Our program consists of a minimum of forty hours of treatment
activities every week, as well as many non-structured hours of
involvement with other recovering individuals. Upon completion of our
program, an appropriate after care plan is developed and the patient is
referred to one of our outpatient programs for continuing care (or
another outpatient program if location is a concern). We endeavor to
achieve all our objectives in a supportive, caring atmosphere encouraged
by the belief that our program leads people to longer, more complete
lives.
Staff
The Olalla Guest Lodge is licensed by the Washington State Department
of Health, certified by the Washington State Division of Alcohol and
Substance Abuse and accredited by CARF. Our counseling staff are
professionals,
registered as chemical dependency counselors with the Department of
Health. Our treatment staff receives the additional support of a
physician, social worker, psychologist, and spiritual advisor.
Program Tools
Group Counseling: Patient’s participate in daily group therapy
sessions. Both men’s and women’s groups are utilized to address
gender-specific issues.
Individual Counseling: Each patient has their own primary counselor
who is responsible for developing an individual treatment plan and
providing counseling to review progress in meeting the mutually
developed treatment objectives. Individual counseling is also available
for patients and family with our family therapist.
Education: A major portion of our program is focused on comprehensive
education concerning all aspects of chemical dependency. We utilize
films, discussion groups, a resource library, and lectures by staff and
other professionals.
Support Groups: Patients are introduced to the philosophy of
Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Al-Anon. Support groups
are held on a daily basis. Patients can also access information on
alternative support groups.
Family Programs: Olalla recognizes the importance of the family in a
patient’s successful recovery. We offer specialized programs for
spouses, parents, and other concerned family members whose lives have
been affected by chemical dependency.
Continuing Care: The treatment for chemical dependency continues when
a person leaves Olalla. Abstaining from alcohol and other drugs is only
the beginning of revitalizing one’s life. Successful recovery occurs
gradually and requires attention, care and support. To this end, each
patient leaves our program with an individualized continuing care plan
pointing the direction for continued help and hope. Go back to the home
page to read more from the brochure detailing our services.
Cigarettes and Coffee: Olalla Guest Lodge is a non-smoking facility.
Patients may smoke outside of buildings near designated areas.
Decaffeinated coffee is served at Olalla. We strongly encourage patients
entering treatment to focus on becoming chemical-free—including nicotine
and caffeine!
