We are located about five miles east of Highway 16 on the Kitsap Peninsula between Gig Harbor and Port Orchard. How big is the facility? The campus is located on about 12 acres, with four large buildings; we have capacity for 47 residents. Can I smoke at Olalla Guest Lodge? Yes, however, only in designated smoking areas and not in the buildings. Is Olalla Guest Lodge a locked facility? No, the residents are here all on a voluntary basis and may leave at anytime. Do you take adolescents? No, we are an adult facility, ages 18 and over. What do you do there? We are set up like a school. There is a daily schedule of activities, chores to do, meetings to attend in the evening and family visiting on the weekends. Lectures, group therapy, films, one-on-one sessions with a counselor and assignments to complete make up the bulk of the time here. How long is your program? Generally speaking, we offer a 21 or 28-day program to those who have never been in residential treatment before and qualify. Our relapse prevention program, however, is 14 days in length and includes a relapse prevention focus. What is your recovery rate? Our outcomes studies show that between 68-72% of our patients stay sober the first year. Remember however, that addiction needs to be viewed as any other life-threatening illness—relapse does not signify failure. It’s more about how one’s quality of life has improved: health, employment, legal, financial, family relations, spiritual—and if that person continues to focus on recovery and commit to long-term sobriety.
